    THE INITIATIVE

Brazil - Germany bilateral cooperation initiative to promote sustainable development paths in the mining territories within the global scenario of energy transition, innovation, and economic diversification.

Fundação Getulio Vargas, FGV Europe, the German Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, with support of the German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) and the Government of the State of Minas Gerais, are happy to announce that the activities of the bilateral technical cooperation initiative “TOWARD A JUST TRANSITION: AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MINAS GERAIS” will be resumed.

Given the global COVID-19 pandemic scenario, the organizers have adapted the agenda of activities to a virtual format, hosting a series of virtual events from September to December 2020. In addition, a physical event was scheduled for December in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, but, unfortunately, the health scenario did not allow it to take place. This activity will also be carried out in a virtual format on December 14th and 15th.

The aim of the initiative remains intact: to foster dialogue and share knowledge on opportunities and challenges in the implementation of a sustainable and just transition in Minas Gerais, relying on the knowledge generated by the German experiences. Moreover, it looks forward to identify opportunities of cooperation between Minas Gerais and Germany to deploy projects in mining territories of Minas Gerais.

Kindly see below the tentative agenda, subject to changes.

Thank you for your continued interest.
