The Getulio Vargas Foundation School of Applied Mathematics (FGV EMAp) promotes, between February 3rd and 14th, in Botafogo, the “Summer School on Data Science”, aiming to bring together academics and industry researchers to discuss and present major advances in the theory and application of data science.
“Data Science has become a central component in most analytical and decision making processes, so we will bring together leading experts to present and share the latest advances in data science theory and applications. Researchers and practitioners will be present in various academic disciplines of data science, including statistics, machine learning, big data, and computer science, as well as scholars in smart cities, finance, biology, and criminology, who will present their experiences to the importance of data science. for the development of these activities ”, explains Professor Jorge Poco, one of the meeting's coordinators.
The meeting will have technical content, aimed at students, teachers and researchers on the subject. The program includes two short courses and 4 mini symposiums. The short courses will use methodology in which students will learn in practice Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Topological Data Analysis to solve real-world problems involving massive data. The mini symposiums will be themed, showing how data science can be applied to different areas. We'll have Data Visualization and Applications, Crime Analytics, Law Tech, and Forests and Watersheds Analytics. At each of these events, we will have academy, business, and government presenters who will show us success stories in which data science has been applied.
