The School of Applied Mathematics of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV EMAp) promotes, between February 3 and 14, in Botafogo, the “Summer School in Data Science”, with the objective of gathering academics and researchers from the sector to discuss and present great advances in theory and theory. application of data science.

“Data science has become a central component in most analytical and decision-making processes, so we’ll bring together leading experts to present and share the latest advances in data science theory and applications. Researchers and professionals will be present in various academic disciplines of data science, including statistics, machine learning, big data and computer science, as well as scholars in smart cities, finance, biology and criminology, who will present their experiences to the importance of Dice. for the development of these activities ”, explains professor Jorge Poco, one of the coordinators of the meeting.

The meeting will have technical content, aimed at students, teachers and researchers on the subject. The program includes two short courses and 4 mini symposia. The short courses will use methodology in which students will learn in practice Explainable Artificial Intelligence and Topological Data Analysis to solve real-world problems involving massive data. The mini symposia will be thematic, showing how data science can be applied to different areas. We will have Visualization and data applications, Crime analysis, Technical law and Analysis of forests and watersheds. At each of these events, we will have presenters from academies, companies and governments who will show us success stories in which data science has been applied.
