4th Seminar Brazil-China Dialogue

Belt and Road & Brazil: Rules and Coordination

Dates: October 18th to 22nd, 2021

The Center for Brazil-China Studies of the Getulio Vargas Foundation's School of Law in Rio de Janeiro (FGV Direito Rio) was established in October 2017 to develop research and studies on Sino-Brazilian relations, as well as on Chinese legal culture and its consequences on the legal-diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

In 2019, the Center launched the Belt and Road & Brazil (BR&Br) Project, which refers to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), an abbreviated form to mention the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, proposed by Xi Jinping in 2013. In that year, the Center held the Seminar “One Belt, One Road and One Rio”, which was attended by presidents of Chinese companies in Brazil and China's Ambassador in Brazil, Mr. Yang Wanming. The BR&Br Project aims to study legal issues in the context of the bilateral relations, taking into account the five axes which structure the BRI: policy coordination, connectivity through infrastructure, financial integration, free trade, and people-to-people exchange.

The 4th Seminar "Brazil-China Dialogue" – Belt and Road & Brazil: Rules and Coordination, in 2021, aims to deepen the discussions on the New Silk Road and map out ways to strengthen the Sino-Brazilian relations.
