Leonardo Amaral Diniz Medina

Specialist in the Articulation for Economic Development and Co-Coordinator of the Productive Reconversion Program in Mined Territories, Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises of Minas Gerais (SEBRAE-MG)

Graduated in Administration, specialist in Strategic Business Management at PUC-MG and Project Management at FGV. He has worked for more than 12 years at SEBRAE / MG, having worked in the financial, strategic areas and in the Management Training School. Currently he is part of the team of the Articulation Unit for Economic Development, leading the articulation of projects that operate in regions of environmental disaster and is one of the coordinators of the Productive Reconversion Program in Mined Territories.

Anderson Costa Cabido

Specialist in Economic Development, SEBRAE-MG and Former President of AMIB - Association of Mining Municipalities of Brazil

Anderson was a mayor of Congonhas / MG for two consecutive terms (2005-2012). Master in Administration from UFMG and Specialization in Local Economic Development from the International Labor Organization. He was President of AMIB - Association of Mining Municipalities of Brazil, founder and president of CODAP, Brazil's first public consortium. He was President of the Association of Historic Cities of Minas Gerais. Career employee at Sebrae / MG, having been its Director between the years 2015 to 2018.

Mariana Pedrosa Nahas

Socio-environmental Manager and Researcher at the Center for Studies in Applied Economic and Environmental Modeling (NEMEA) from Cedeplar-UFMG (Regional Planning and Development Center of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of Minas Gerais – UFMG)

Socio-environmental Manager with experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and in the integrated management of socio-environmental projects and development of territories. PhD student and Master in Economic Sciences at the Center for Development and Regional Planning / CEDEPLAR at UFMG. Researcher at the Nucleus of Studies in Economic and Environmental Applied Modelling (NEMEA), with the focus in the Environment, currently working with the theme of Scenarios of Deceleration of Mining and its impacts on the Economy of Minas Gerais between the years 2015 and 2050. Specialist in data analysis, including econometric modelling of spatial data, evaluation and monitoring of high socio-environmental impact projects related to the environment, sanitation, mining and regional development.

-2nd place in the master category of the 35th BNDES Economy Award, with the theme: Mining and Productive Dynamics - Effects on the Productive Structure of Minas Gerais Mining Municipalities between 2000 and 2010 - using a spatial panel data model;

-Wiler and Winner of the Best Project in BIg Data, GIS, IoT and Block Chain in the Water Innovation Lab WILBrasil, Northeast edition, 2019;

Marco Saverio Ristuccia

Senior Economist and Project Manager of the Initiative “Toward a Just Transition: An Opportunity for Minas Gerais”, FGV Europe                

Marco Ristuccia joined FGV in 2011 and is currently project coordinator at FGV Europe, where he works in infrastructure and green technologies for sustainable development. Prior to that, he worked as a project coordinator at FGV Projetos, focusing on Smart Cities and technological innovation, infrastructure and utility management and financing, PPP projects, corporate social responsibility and structuring company-territory relationships for “value creation” in the energy sector. Prior to that, he worked as an analyst in the economic and financial assessment of the investment risk profile for ENI, Dexia-Crediop, BNL-Paribas and Invitalia, and in the technical consulting sector in Italy (Éupolis Lombardia, Quesire srl, Struttura srl, Cles srl, Italian Consiglio per le Scienze Sociali, Federculture, Openeconomics). Master in Economic Sciences and graduated in Economics from the Universitá La Sapienza of Rome (Italy). Specialized in Probabilistic Mathematics for financial risk control.

Juliano Alves Pinto

Deputy Secretary for the Promotion of Investments and Production Chains, State of Minas Gerais - Economic Development Secretariat

Juliano Alves Pinto has been a career diplomat since 2007, currently deputy-secretary for Investment Promotion and Productive Chains in the Minas Gerais State Government. As a diplomat, he served as vice-consul of Brazil in San Francisco for 4 years, in addition to DCM of Brazil in Tirana, Albania, for 3 years. Before his mission in the Government of the State of Minas Gerais, he led the project "Diplomacy of Innovation" in Belo Horizonte, connecting the innovation ecosystems to international partners abroad.

Nadine Gerner

Senior Researcher, Strategic River Basin Management Department, Emschergenossenschaft und Lippeverband

Nadine Gerner holds a diploma in biology from the University of Frankfurt and is specialized in freshwater biology and ecotoxicology. She conducted a PhD at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, where she investigated the ecological effects of the Canadian oil sands development, applying biological indicators for aquatic macroinvertebrate species. In 2014, Nadine Gerner joined Emschergenossenschaft & Lippeverband, a public sector water management association located in Essen in the German Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr metropolitan area). She works in the department of River Basin Management. The restoration of the Emscher river and its tributaries is the central topic of her work. In this context, she focuses on water quality of the restored streams, on the ecosystem services they provide, on water related challenges due to climate change and on improving governance regimes in water management. During school, Nadine Gerner spent three years in Brazil, attending the Humboldt college in São Paulo. She speaks German, English and Portuguese.

João Teixeira Soares

Claudia Diniz

Executive Director, Mining Hub

Executive with solid experience in innovation, project management and intellectual property, with a history of work for the mining industry, having already worked in two of the largest mining companies in the world. Chemical engineer with master's and doctorate in Mineral Technology, with extensive experience abroad. MBA from FDC. She currently serves as executive director of MiningHub, where she serves as the world's first open innovation hub in the mining sector. Marco Contardi

Project manager, FGV Europe

Marco Contardi joined FGV in 2015 and is currently project manager at FGV Europe, where he works in the areas of infrastructure and sustainable development, Smart Cities and sustainability. Prior to that, he worked at FGV Projetos, coordinating urban development, social responsibility and PPPs projects for public services. He began his career at the German company Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and was a senior consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Latin American Development Bank (CAF), where he supported the drafting of the PPP Law and the PPP Pilot Program from the Federal Government of Brazil on the North-South Railroad project. Marco also worked as a senior researcher at the Lombardy Region Research Institute in Italy, where he conducted research in the areas of territorial development, climate change and infrastructure financing. Master in Economics from Luigi Bocconi University of Milan, Italy. He has completed courses at the World Bank on Infrastructure and Development and Financial Analysis for Infrastructure Projects and at Partnership UK (UK PPP) on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the United Kingdom.

Susana Moreira

Oil and Gas Specialist, The World Bank

Susana is an Oil and Gas Specialist and has been with the World Bank for over 8 years, working both in mining and oil and gas sector projects. Previously she was a consultant working on energy, political rights in Africa and public relations. She holds a PhD in International Studies, a MA in Pacific International Affairs and a Bachelors in International Relations. She is fluent in 5 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Her expertise and current project activities include:
•    Co-leading the “Decarbonizing Natural Gas Using Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Technology” study commissioned by the World Bank in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Energy Agency (IEA);
•    Co-leading the World Bank’s Climate-Smart Mining Initiative, which aims to support resource-rich developing countries to benefit from the increasing demand for strategic minerals for the clean energy transition, while effectively decarbonizing and reducing the material footprint of their mining sector;
•    Managing holistic support to governments on mineral sector governance, including crafting strong oil and gas, and mining sector policies, laws and regulations;
•    Capacity building (training on mining and oil and gas policy and regulations and institutional reforms) for high level government officials, parliamentarian, Civil Society Organizarions (CSO), etc;
•    Support towards the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in resource-rich countries;
•    Contributing to knowledge products on various areas, such as blue hydrogen, natural gas markets in Latin America, Mining Sector Deep Dive in Uganda and Suriname’s mining sector competitiveness.

Silvio tem mais de 16 anos de experiência nas indústrias de mineração, metais e aeronáutica. Esteve envolvido com projetos complexos de engajamento em ambientes multi-stakeholder lidando com governo, setor público, setor privado, terceiro setor e com o relacionamento com comunidades.
Antes de se juntar ao Grupo Appian, Silvio Lima teve posições executivas na Accenture Strategy Consulting, servindo clientes globais da indústria de mineração na área de Assuntos Corporativos. Silvio foi responsável pela área de Performance Social na Anglo American, servindo tanto ao Sistema Minas-Rio quanto às operações de Níquel. Fez, também, parte da diretoria executiva da Kinross Brasil.
Silvio é Engenheiro de Controle e Automação pela UMFG, é Mestre em Engenharia Aeronáutica pelo Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) e possui MBA pela Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University).

Sarah Laine de Castro

Coordinator of Special Projects for Municipalities, Development Bank of Minas Gerais (BDMG)

A career employee at the Development Bank of Minas Gerais (BDMG), she has a degree in mechanical engineering, with a postgraduate degree in environmental management, production administration, an MBA and a master's degree in finance.

For the past four years, she has been working on proposing solutions for strengthening and economic transformation in mined territories.

Joana Sarmento Coelho

Joana Sarmento Coelho, Portuguese national with 16 years of service in the banking system, has European experience, in Africa and Latin America. She is currently the head of operations for the European Investment Bank - the Bank of the European Union - for the public sector in Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, being located in Luxembourg.

Cesar Cunha Campos

Director, FGV Europe

Cesar Cunha Campos has a degree in Civil Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), a master’s degree in Business Administration from London Business School and a PhD in Transportation Planning from Technische Universität Wien, Austria. He has been a consultant since 1975, heading and integrating several projects in economics, engineering, and finance.

Cesar Cunha Campos has also developed projects for top Brazilian private and public corporations, especially feasibility studies for raising funds with major banks and development agencies (such as BNDES, IBRD, IDB, and OECD) and undertook a number of international projects. Since 2017, he has been the director of FGV Europe, responsible for the relations with the European private sector and relevant players from public sector. From 2003-2018, he was the executive director of FGV Projetos, the technical advisory unit of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), where he coordinated a team of more than 300 specialists working in various areas of knowledge, such as economy and finance, administration and public policy.

Dirk Augustin

Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rio de Janeiro Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rio de Janeiro

Dirk Augustin has been Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rio de Janeiro since July 2020. After studying journalism, American studies and public law in the 1990s in Mainz and joining the international service, he was able to gain experience in Brazil at the beginning of his career as a press officer in São Paulo. Other stays abroad took him as Deputy Ambassador to Yangon / Myanmar and as head of the political department in New Delhi / India. In recent years, he has worked at the Federal Ministry of External Relations headquarters in Berlin, first as head of the South Asia department and then as head of civil dialogue and public relations.

Agnes Maria de Aragão da Costa

Agnes Maria de Aragão da Costa is Head of the Special Advisory on Regulatory Affairs, with a specialty in Energy and Mining Economies. He has been working at MME for 15 years, recommending and formulating public policies. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economic Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a master's degree in Energy from the University of São Paulo (USP). Servant of the career of Specialist in Public Policy and Government Management. He is currently a member of Petrobras' Fiscal Council. He was a member of the Board of Directors of CEAL, CEPISA and Norte Energia and a member of the Fiscal Council of Eletrobras.

Fernando Passalio de Avelar

Deputy-Secretary of Economic Development of the State of Minas Gerais - Economic Development Secretariat (SEDE)

Fernando Passalio de Avelar is from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Graduated in Business Administration and Management of Financial Institutions from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, he has a post-graduate degree in Government Auditing from Universidade Gama Filho. He joined the State Treasury Department - State Revenue Service in 2008. Currently, he is the Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Development of Minas Gerais.

Teodomiro Diniz Camargos

Vice-President, Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (FIEMG)

Civil engineer, President of Construtora Diniz Camargos Ltda, he has been vice-president of Fiemg since 2002. He was president of the Chamber of Construction Industry (CIC) of Fiemg from 2001 to March 2017, of Sinduscon-MG in the periods 1998/2001 and 2001/2003, of Seconci -MG 1996/1998, and director of the Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry (CBIC) 1998/2003, among other positions. A work aimed at revitalizing historic heritage, its construction company, among dozens of works carried out, transformed commercial buildings in the center of the capital of Minas Gerais into residential condominiums with a total of 319 units. Under his management, Sinduscon was one of those responsible for implementing the Brazilian Habitat Quality and Productivity Program (PBQP-H) in Minas Gerais. Ahead of CIC-Fiemg, he created the collective construction project, developing in the first edition the requalification project of Praça Raul Soares, and in the second edition the requalification project of the Belo Horizonte ring road, created the Technological Center for the Construction Industry (Ceticon) and Minascon, the big event in the sector. He holds several titles and commendations, including the Wady Simão medal, conferred by Sinduscon, the "Legislative Merit", from the Belo Horizonte City Council and the "Classist Leadership Medal", conferred by Sinaee-MG and Abinee.
